Thank you for your interest in Sovereign Grace Community Church. The ministry began in April, 2002 as a new church in the Denver area, and we are currently meeting for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00 A.M. at Congregation Beth Shalom located at 6116 S. Pennsylvania St. in Centennial, CO.
Sovereign Grace Community Church has no denominational affiliation, but we trace our heritage to the Calvinistic "Particular" Baptists that emerged in England during the period of the English Reformation. That is to say, we embrace many of the distinctives of historical Reformation theology, but from a baptistic and New Covenant perspective.
- We uphold the great Reformation principles of Sola Scriptura (the Scripture alone), Sola Fide, (faith alone), Sola Gratia (grace alone), and Sola Christo (Christ alone).
- Further, we uphold the so-called "five points" of historical Reformed Theology, commonly referred to as the doctrines of grace.
- We recognize baptism as a believer’s ordinance rather than a sacrament to be administered to children as taught in many churches and denominations within the Reformed tradition.
- As such, we stand in substantial agreement with various Reformation confessions of faith, and most particularly the First London Baptist Confession of 1644, upon which our own statement of faith is constructed.
In keeping with a high view of God and the Scriptures, Sovereign Grace Community Church is a serious-minded fellowship committed to the proclamation and ministry of the whole counsel of God which finds its focal point in His work of redemption and renewal in Christ. In affirmation of the apostle Paul’s insistence that "the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16), we believe that the biblical gospel of Jesus Christ - revealed in the sixty-six books of the Bible - is essential to every aspect of a person’s spiritual life and growth. Faith and continuance in the gospel are the basis of the Christian’s progress in sanctification as much as his justification.
For this reason our ministry is centered upon the preaching and teaching of the Scriptures as they reveal God’s intention and accomplishment in redemption. We do so in dependence upon the effectual, transforming work of the Holy Spirit, with the goal of making true disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) and seeing every person presented complete in Him (Colossians 1:28-29). This being our singular goal, all that we do - whether worship, fellowship, service, or outreach - is determined and informed by the gospel, even as Paul could affirm to the Corinthians, "I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified." (1 Corinthians 2:1-2)
